Chans’Artisans consists of the singer and saxophonist Jean-Pierre Sailly, who hails from France, and guitarist Volker Bahns. Jean-Pierre Sailly has been living and working in Reutlingen for many years. Volker Bahns moved from Schleswig-Holstein to Reutlingen in the spring of 2007. Jean-Pierre Sailly grew up in France with the chansons of Yves Montand, Joe Dassin, Gilbert Bécaud, and - not to forget - Edith Piaf. Volker Bahns comes from the jazz scene. Thus, the repertoire of Chans’Artisans is an interesting mix of French chansons, swing and bossa nova numbers, and evergreens, primarily from the 1930s to the 1970s. The Chans’Artisans see themselves, as the second part of their name suggests, as music craftsmen. Everything is performed - without major technical tricks - by hand and blown by mouth. Overall, they prefer harmonious, rather calm pieces, where even the softer tones are given their due. The music is particularly suitable for concerts and matinees in smaller settings (and smaller venues), but also for musical accompaniment at receptions, exhibitions, readings, and similar cultural, private, and business events.
